Common questions

Everything you might want to know before getting in touch.

What can I expect from a first session?

+
The first session is about getting to know each other. I'll invite you to share what's brought you to therapy, what you're hoping for, and any concerns you have. There's no pressure — it's a space for you to explore at your own pace. We'll also talk practically about how we'll work together and what to expect going forward.

How do online sessions work?

+
I work exclusively online via Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or FaceTime — whichever works best for you. All you need is a device with a camera and a private space. Online therapy is just as effective as in-person work, and many clients find it more accessible and convenient. I work with clients across the UK and internationally.

Are you recognised by health insurers?

+
Yes — I am recognised by leading health insurers including BUPA, Affinity, WPA, and Vitality. If you intend to use health insurance to fund your therapy, please let me know when you get in touch and I can guide you through the process.

Do you offer therapy in Spanish?

+
Yes — I am fully fluent in Spanish (spoken and written) and am happy to conduct sessions entirely in Spanish. For some clients, working in their first language feels more natural and emotionally authentic.

How long does therapy typically last?

+
This varies depending on your goals and what you're working through. Some clients benefit from a short-term focused piece of work (8–12 sessions), while others engage in longer-term therapy over months or years. We'll review this together regularly so you're always in control of the process.

What is your approach to addiction?

+
I take a compassionate, non-judgmental approach that recognises addiction as a complex issue with psychological, social, and sometimes physiological roots. I draw on Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention (MBRP), Motivational Interviewing, ACT, and CBT — tailored to what works for you, not a one-size-fits-all model.

Do you offer mindfulness workshops for organisations?

+
Yes — alongside my therapy practice I facilitate online mindfulness workshops and professional training for individuals, teams, and organisations. These are practical, evidence-based sessions focused on wellbeing, emotional resilience, and personal growth. Please get in touch to discuss your needs and I'll send over more details.

Is everything I share confidential?

+
Yes — confidentiality is fundamental to our work. Everything you share remains private, with the exception of situations where there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others, or where I am required by law to disclose. I will always discuss confidentiality fully with you in our first session.

Are you BACP accredited?

+
Yes — I am fully accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), adhering to their ethical framework and professional standards. I hold an MSc in Addiction Psychology and Counselling and a First Class BA in Philosophy, and I engage in ongoing clinical supervision and continuing professional development.

How do I get started?

+
The easiest first step is to book a free 20-minute consultation — no commitment required. You can do this via the contact form or by emailing me directly at mrdavital1@gmail.com. I aim to respond within one working day.
